New Vitos save A&E slots
A new deal gained by Mercedes-Benz is set to change the roadscape of south-east England.
The South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) will see the current fast response cars used by paramedic practitioners being replaced by 37 Vito 116 CDI Dualiners, which are equipped to allow minor treatment to be carried out on scene, removing the need to tie up a front-line ambulance and an A&E bed.
SECAmb already has a fleet of 300 front-line Sprinter 519 CDIs with Wilker box bodies, 10% of which were renewed in the final quarter of 2014 through Rossett Commercials.
The Vitos are part of a separate 63 vehicle order for specialist vehicles, including Sprinter critical care ambulances, driver training vehicles and logistic support vans, and 14 Citan 109 CDI Compacts to be trialled for logistics support and possible use by community first responders.
